Transformation Tuesday: the Living Room

Transformation Tuesday: the Living Room

Back in December we moved into our new house in New York, the house was fairly updated with no major work needing to be done. However,  off the bat, I knew I had to change the paint color from the beige / cream / yellow  it currently was. Though it was a nice color, it wasn’t the look I was aiming for.

I was a looking for a modern homey European farmhouse. I am a fan of the HGTV ‘Fixer Upper’ show, especially the main designer, Joanna Gaines. I also love the warm cozy french country style as well. So I try to play off all of my favorite styles to create my living room space. Bear in mind, I still have young children and we are on a strict budget because, after all, we did buy a home in New York.

First thing first, I knew the biggest way to make an impact was to change the paint color. I liked the feeling of cool summer breeze, so I went with Sherwin Williams Sea Salt.

As you can see, the paint color did the trick, it changed the whole feel of the house. It was bright and light but at the same time modern and cozy. As soon as I added the furniture though they were cooler in color, the types of furntiures, made it look so comfy.

The final product:
